Travelling from Ancona Falconara airport:
From Ancona Falconara airport – drive out of the car hire area and back INTO the airport, towards the car hire drop area again but take the road/ramp going up onto the autostrada, then you’ll quickly see a sign to the SS76 (superstrada) towards ROMA/FABRIANO. Take this. You’ll pass exits to JESI then MONTECAROTTO and MONTE ROBERTO and CUPRAMONTANA – the exit after this is the one you need: APIRO/MERGO. It’s after about 20 mins on this road. Turn left after this exit and follow signs to Apiro. You pass a little service station on your left. Just after the boundary sign saying MACERATA province there is a right turn towards POGGIO SAN VICINO (don’t drive on up the hill towards Apiro here). Take this turn and continue for about 10 mins, you’ll pass a large Monastery/Abbey place on your left called Abbazia Sant’ Urbano, after another 2 miles you’ll reach a crossroads signing either left to APIRO or right to POGGIO SAN VICINO/DOMO. Just opposite you is a wonky bus shelter next to a white dirt road. Go straight over here, taking this white road, this is Contrada Favari. Drive up this track for about half a mile, you’ll pass two farmhouses on your right and then a terracotta coloured house on your left, just after this terracotta-coloured house is Monastero di Favari, on the right. There is a gateway just after the avenue of trees on the right.
